Having recently completed a job search, I saw this a lot. antiheroine/908314063469514752
-
I was frequently told I wasn't "senior" enough or "technical" enough, which I interpreted to mean "you don't know enough JS."
-
It's particularly frustrating because the reverse isn't true. I've met and worked with plenty of senior devs who are terrible at CSS.
-
And they readily admit this. But no one suggests that improve this skill. No one suggests they aren't "senior enough" because of it.
-
Yet I'm constantly told in interviews and performance reviews I need to improve my JS proficiency.
-
Missing out on opportunities because I lack this one skill tells me that CSS is considered less than and I think it's bullshit.
